Question 1

What is a rolling security shutter?

Accepted Answer

A rolling security shutter is a heavy-duty aluminum barrier that rolls up into a compact housing above your window or door. It provides security, storm protection, insulation, and privacy and can be operated manually or by electric motor with a wall switch or wireless remote.

Question 2

How does a rolling shutter protect my business?

Accepted Answer

Rolling shutters create a physical barrier against break-ins, smash-and-grab theft, and vandalism. Commercial-grade aluminum slats resist forced entry, protect storefront glass, and deter opportunistic crime after hours.

Question 3

What Wheatbelt shutter series do you install?

Accepted Answer

We install the full Wheatbelt product line: RF 40 (residential and light commercial), RF 55 (heavy commercial), and the extruded aluminum EX series including EX 60, EX 59, EX 40, and EX 1.5 for commercial, specialty, and custom applications.

Question 4

What is the difference between the RF and EX series?

Accepted Answer

RF series shutters use roll-formed aluminum with a foam core for insulation, ideal for residential and standard commercial openings. EX series shutters use extruded aluminum profiles offering greater strength for larger commercial openings and custom applications.

Question 5

Do you install motorized rolling shutters?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We install electric motor-driven shutters operated by wall switch, and fully automated systems using Somfy RTS wireless remote control. Somfy motors can control individual shutters or groups from a single remote or smartphone app.

Question 6

What types of openings can rolling shutters fit?

Accepted Answer

Wheatbelt manufactures custom-built shutters for virtually any opening including windows, doors, skylights, kiosks, serving windows, garage openings, screen porches, pool houses, and large industrial openings. Every shutter is built to your exact measurements.

Question 7

What types of businesses use rolling shutters?

Accepted Answer

Common applications include restaurants, retail storefronts, liquor stores, pharmacies, banks, strip malls, concession stands, and warehouses. Rolling shutters are also widely used for drive-thru serving windows, kiosk security, and storage enclosures.

Question 8

How long does a rolling shutter installation take?

Accepted Answer

Most residential installations are completed in a single day. Commercial installations vary by number of openings, but a typical storefront with 2 to 4 shutters is usually completed in one to two days.

Question 9

How much do rolling security shutters cost?

Accepted Answer

Residential shutters typically start around $2,000 per opening installed. Commercial projects range from $5,000 to $50,000 or more depending on scope. Contact us for a free estimate tailored to your property.

Question 12

Do rolling shutters help reduce energy costs?
